چکیده
Motivated by an analogy with matrix decomposition, we introduce the novel problem of relational decomposition. In matrix decomposition, one is given a matrix and has to decompose it as a product of other matrices. In relational decomposition, one is given a relation r and one has to decompose it as a conjunctive query of a particular form q :– q1 ∧ ... ∧ qn. Furthermore, the decomposition has to satisfy certain constraints (e.g. that r ≈ q holds). Relational decomposition is thus the inverse problem of querying as one is given the result of the query and has to compute the relations constituting the query itself. We show that relational decomposition generalizes several well-studied problems in data mining such as tiling, boolean matrix factorization, and discriminative pattern set mining. Furthermore, we provide an initial strategy for solving relational decomposition problems that is based on answer set programming. The resulting problem formalizations and corresponding solvers fit within the declarative modelling paradigm for data mining.

were encouraged to stress what the motivation was for the work and what was learned from the experience; descriptions of work that attempted to cross disciplines were encouraged. Computational tractability: Research in nonmonotonic reasoning deliberately ignored computational concerns for many years. Now, there is a growing interest in tractable realizations of the generally intractable theorie...
متن کاملThe Effect of Bayesian Reasoning Training on the Results of Clinical Reasoning Tests of Interns
Introduction: Clinical reasoning includes a range of thinking about clinical medicine at all stages of patient evaluation. Bayesian theory can be used to refute or confirm differential diagnoses in the clinical reasoning process. In this way, by learning the basic mathematical language of probability in medicine, we can change our beliefs according to new evidence. The aim of this study is to i...

Background: Clinical reasoning process leads clinician to get purposeful steps from signs and symptoms toward diagnosis and treatment. This research intends to investigate the effect of teaching clinical reasoning on problem-solving skills of medical students. Methods: This research is a semi-experimental study. متن کاملNonmonotonic Reasoning, Argumentation and Machine Learning
Machine learning and nonmonotonic reasoning are closely related, both concerned with making plausible as well as certain inferences based on available data. In this document a brief overview of diierent approaches to nonmonotonic reasoning is presented , and it is shown how the concept of argumentation systems arises. The relationship with machine learning work is also discussed. The document a...
